Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) has called on hospitality industry operators to train and retrain their staff for effective service delivery.
NTDC South-East Zonal Coordinator, Mrs Annette Ibeh told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Enugu that the call was necessary because many hospitality industry staff were hostile to customers.
According to Ibeh, excellent service delivery must always be provided for customers who called for leisure and comfort.
“Those working in the hospitality industry must be professionals who know the rudiments of the industry.
“Most staff in the hospitality industry are not friendly and do not know how to treat customers due to lack of training.
“There is the urgent need for training and workshops to update them at all time on how best to operate in the sector,” she said.
Ibeh said the focus of any hospitality industry operator should 24-hour leisure for customers, adding that anything outside this was no longer hospitality. (NAN)
