Forum of past and present students union leaders in Cross River State
By Akpan David, Calabar
Most Nigerian university students and youths have been underestimated for too long.
Many successive governments have not tested and given them a chance to unearth the innate and budding talents inherent in them.
Comrade John Inaku, spokesman of a students organisation, Forum of past and present students Union leaders in Cross River State made the concerns when they visited the NUJ Press Centre Calabar.
Inaku said all the youths and university students need is an enabling environment to enable them display their budding talents and thrive.
He said, “Nigerian youths have been grossly underestimated and denied of opportunities in most succeeding governments. Nigerian youths have capacity to be entrepreneurs but they need to be challenged with opportunities and a leader who understands them very well to form another government in Cross River State.
“This is why we are rooting for, Prince Bassey Otu, the APC governorship candidate who has been a student activist and supporter of education infrastructure in many tertiary institutions”.
According to them, they have further extracted firm agreement from Otu over youth engagement and upgrading of tertiary institutions in the state.
