It has been lamented that many Nigerians today, cannot have one good meal with their families, corruption is increasing every day, terrorism, kidnapping are order of the day while indiscriminate killings by herdsmen has become part of the daily news.
The reason for the current situation is that, Nigeria as a nation is sick, can be said to be an understatement because never in the history of the nation have the people seen inflation so high in such a geometric proportion.

The declaration was by the Acting Chairman of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Rev. Ibiosiya Daniel Amachree while speaking at the opening of the business session of the 109th Convention in Session holding at the Baptist International Convention Center (BICC), Mowe, Lagos – Ibadan Expressway.

He lamented that genocide of Christians, burning of houses, and displacement of people from their traditional communities have become the order of the day.
According to him, “Our government is silent about these issues, our Baptist schools are being attacked at llorin, Kaduna, and in other States. It has become more imperative now than ever for every one of us to rise up and cry to God to save our beloved Nation” .
He added that, “We should be more involved in political activities, especially as the 2023 election is approaching. The Bible puts it clearly that “when the righteous are in authority the people rejoice, but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn” (Proverbs 29:2)”.
He also added that,” We have mourned and still mourning because of our negligence and political apathy (1.e. not being involved or interested in politics). Baptist people, let’s encourage our members who are interested in politics to be more active and present themselves for electoral positions, while we pray for them”.
The Convention Acting Chairman appealed that, “Please, if you have obtained your Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), make sure you vote for God fearing politicians when the opportunity comes. If you have not gotten yours, please make sure you get your PVCs”.
He advised that, “Vote wisely, vote with your conscience so that God can use your vote to bring His sons and daughters to transform this nation. Remember, your vote counts” .
“In concluding this brief address, I like to remind us that we are pilgrims. We should be more conscious of these realities especially with the recent happenings all around the world. The COVID-19 pandemic, Russia and Ukraine and prepare for rapture. All of these should challenge us to be more heavenly conscious”, he stressed.
He added that, “Also, be reminded that whenever the Children of God gather together the devil also appears in such gathering (Job 1:6-7). Please don’t allow him to execute his evil plans, be more security conscious, be alert in the spirit, pray, be vigilant and take note of who sits beside you in every place.Be your brother’s keeper, and report every suspicious character to the security personnel around”.
