Nigeria’s for fairness in struggle against subsidy removal

By Sadiq Muhammed

The federal government is playing with fire with the hardship cause by removal of fuel subsidy, its now planning to remove electricity subsidy there by for increasing the hardship of the citizens.

The Bola Tinubu presidency is trying harder and testing the patience of the people. But this time we shall resist it. Im using this to call on Nigerians to resist this attempt.

Why won’t the government officials reduce some of the subsidies they enjoy, virtually every aspect their life and that of their families is subsidize from their children school, to healthcare and even the food they eat is subsidize are they more Nigerians than the rest of us?
It is wicked for any right thinking person to start thinking of exacerbating this hardship. How can a government that has created 48 ministries in an already strained economy morally justify cutting costs? Charity, as they say, begins at home. They should start by reducing the unnecessary and bloated ministries created for selfish interests. Let the minister of power sacrifice his ministerial position and his ministry merged with other ministry so to save cost.

The government must know that the people are suffering and furthering their suffering could lead to a revolt.
A revolt, I believe, would be extremely detrimental and not in the country’s best interest.

Why should the common people bear the brunt of the luxurious lifestyles of our political elite? Please, do not push us. In this already strained economy, any misguided policy could be a ticking time bomb.We are sitting on a keg of gunpowder.

This government is the most confusing in our history. On one hand, it cries about the cost of governance and sustainability, and on the other, it creates more ministries, which will only increase the cost of governance. I hope the government will reconsider its stance.
