NNL Super 4: El-Kanemi Warriors FC, Maiduguri settles for 3rd after losing to Bayelsa United in last match

After winning its first match 2-0 against Doma United, Elkanemi Warriors Fc of Maiduguri played a 1-1 draw with Bendel Insurance the eventual winners of the Super 4 which came to a close in Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.

Two matches were played in the closing day with Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri attending the matches which his team won by 2-0 against Elkanemi Warriors FC in the day’s first match that was surrounded by officiating controversies from a woman Center Referee, Chukwu Blessing who red-carded a host team player for rough tackle only to reverse her decision after an appeal by players and officials claiming that there was mistaken identity.

The second match between Bendel Insurance and Doma United ended by 2-1 in favor of the Benin Arsenals.

Governor Douye Diri had a hand shake with all the organisers, referee and the two teams before he took the traditional kick off.
The last match of Elkanemi warriors was against Bayelsa United which had a running time of 40 minutes for each half. Elkanemi warriors conceded the first goal in a match which David Obiazo could not start due to injury and had to give way to Daniel Agba who also got injured in the early minutes to bring back Obiazo with his injured hand in our match against insurance on Friday.
The first half of Elkanemi versus Bayelsa encounter ended 1-0 in favor of the Bayelsa team who were playing before their home fans and the state Governor.
On resumption for the second half Elkanemi Warriors made changes that brought in ujah ugochukwu,Jamil Muhammed, and Umar Badamasi. The warriors played a beautiful combination to out played their opponents, but luck wasn’t on our side as the warriors conceded the second goal in the 68 minutes through stephen Winston of united header. The reduced running time of 40-40 minutes match ended by 2 goals to nil against Elkanemi warriors Fc.
The second and last match of the day was played between Bendel Insurance and Doma United fc which ended by 2-1 in favor of insurance of Benin to make them the winners of the super 4 and 2021/22 league.
At the end of the competition Bendel Insurance came first with 7 points, Bayelsa United second with 4 points plus 1 and Elkanemi warriors third with same 4 points.

….Governor Zulum, Sports administrators recieved medals

Organisers of the competition, the NNL have presented Borno state Governor professor Babagana Umara Zulum with a gold medal of the super 4 for his emense contributions and support in developing the Nigeria National league and football in general. The award decoration was made by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NNL, Sajo. D. Mohammed and received by chairman Elkanemi warriors Fc, Alhaji sheriff Bukar during the presentation ceremony of the just concluded super 4 competition in Samson siasia sports complex Yenagoa.
Earlier players of Elkanemi warriors were decorated with the third place medal of the Nigeria National league. The medals were also presented to top sports administrators in Nigeria,which include Ahmed Yusuf fresh whose medal was also received by Sheriff Bukar.

Elkanemi Chairman, Alhaji Sheriff Bukar who is the Director North in the NNL was also decorated with the medal for his commitment to the course of football development.
Finally the winners, Bendel Insurance received the thropy and gold medals of the super 4 competition.
