The Senatorial candidate for Anambra Central District on the platform of  New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Princess Helen Mbakwe has stated that she will seek the cancelation of Senatorial elections in court.

Princess Mbakwe at a press briefing in Awka, Anambra State on Monday stated that her party’s logo on Independent National Electoral Commission INEC ballot papers were very poor and as such many of her supporters did not vote for her.

According to her, her party logo on INEC platform was  practically non in existence. She condemn the poor handling of the printing of her  Party’s Logo on the Ballot Papers by INEC which led to  frustrating of her ambition and the bright chances she had to contribute to a better Nigeria

”I want to strongly condemn the poor presentation of my party’s Logo. This act denied me the opportunity to participate in the process of serving my people. I am talking with my lawyer and I will pray for the cancelation of the election in the senatorial district.

NNPP’s logo was blurred and practically nonexistent on the ballot papers and the part played by Independent National Electoral commission, INEC, I’m talking with my lawyers as I’ll be moving for a cancellation of the Senatorial Elections as I was completely left out of the voting processes after having campaigned vigorously,” she said.

According to her, details of the logo of NNPP, are “Basket of Fruits” and the party name NNPP whereas INEC presented nothing that looked like basket of fruits nor did INEC present the acronym NNPP on the Ballot Paper.

The INEC Ballot Paper NNPP’s  logo confused many of my supporters and they voted other parties like Labour Party and (LP) Young Progressive Party (YPP). She however, congratulate senator Victor Umeh for being declared  winner by the INEC.

On why she is congratulating Chief Umeh and at the same time challenging results of the election, she said that, for now Senator Umeh is declared winner, pending the determination of her case in the court.

Princess Mbakwe thanked  the  people of Anambra Central Senatorial Zone for coming out to exercise their voting rights.

”I appreciate your democratic spirit to participate in this 2023 Elections. You braved it and you excised your franchise.

“Again, my utmost love and  appreciation to all those who voted for me, especially my Abatete people for their block votes, despite the short period that I joined the race to campaign.

“I am glad to have pulled the number of votes I did, notwithstanding the challenges of my party’s logo identification experienced by those who voted and those who intended to vote for me. Our logo was blurred or practically non existent on the ballot papers, thereby confusing my voters,” She said.

Princess Mbakwe also stated that in area of her stronghold in Anambra Central like Idemili North and South, INEC officials never showed up till noon and thereabouts.

According to her, this also disenfranchised many early birds who had trooped out to vote for her.

“I am still ready to serve my people because I believe strongly in the principles of the rule of law, equity, equality, fairness and justice, hence my desire to serve my Senatorial Zone. My patrotism is unflinching and my zeal to contribute to Repairing my Country is still alive and burning,” she stated.

She urged the supporters of NNPP as well as Nigerians to be calm while the leaders of the  great party NNPP chart a course  as regards the errors perpetuated by INEC against our Party NNPP.
