NNPP Plateau South Senatorial District candidate, Fyenda speaks on why he’s most eligible to replace Lalong in Tinubu’s cabinet despite in different party

Timlok Fyenda

In what turned out to be shocking and vexatious to the electorates and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who were less suspecting and less informed in Plateau State, other political parties on the Plateau ended up jubilants, churning out laughter with hands held in glee over the Appeal Court ruling that overturned the victory of the PDP across the state for non-compliance with an existing court order mandating them to hold a proper congress across the local governments of the state. PDP was adjudged structureless.

The Plateau State political space has since been saturated with arguments and counterarguments, but only the courts reserve arbitration rights. Building on a precedented ruling that once booted out of office all elected officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, the ruling party and other opposition parties have charged the PDP not to overheat the polity as the ruling was not the first of its kind and therefore not a peculiar one.

Consequently, all runners-up in the 2023 General Elections where the PDP came first had the certificates of return issued to them automatically. To this end, a fierce opposition leader, Comrade Timlok Fyenda Esq of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) who contested for the Plateau South senatorial seat and finished third, has issued a statement expressing his eligibility as the ideal replacement for His Excellency Barr. Simon Bako Lalong, who came second in the same election and currently Nigeria’s Minister of Labour and Employment.

Fyenda’s statement results from Lalong’s desire to vacate the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for the Legislative.

In his words: “I, Comr. Timlok Fyedan Esq., MIASS, SCPMN of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), wish to state without equivocation that the jostle for the ministerial slot reserved for Plateau State in replacement of His Excellency Barr. Simon Bako Lalong is not a venture of light weight, thus all well-informed factors that could birth productiveness, earning Plateau State and Nigeria effective representation on the Federal Executive Council (FEC) should be considered.

“Having come third in the 2023 General Elections for the Plateau South senatorial seat, I have a fair mandate of the people stemming from trust and so overwhelmingly qualified to replace Lalong. This will allow the seat to remain where it was originally scheduled for. The appointment will not hold any disparity from that of Barr. Nyesom Wike, a further attestation of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s objective readiness to have a government of national competence where antecedence and credibility are ranked more in favour of merits irrespective of party differences.

“The same appointment will facilitate quick integration of Nigerians outside of the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially members of the Kwankwasiya Movement, into the people oriented government of His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu; strengthening social and political bonds necessarily to harvest great measures of support for the administration.

“As a reminder, I wish to freshen the memory of Nigerians concerning the budding days of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Plateau State. I had served as Personal Assistant to the critical stakeholder of the party, Air Commodore Bernard Banfa (Rtd) of blessed memory; who was a frontier leading to the merger that birthed the APC making me a foundational member of the party in the state. I feel my appointment will be a reward for the strenuous efforts put up by us to form the APC on the Plateau as well as appease the spirit of the deceased. As a man of multidisciplinary background, I have professional information and training that can be deployed to address the challenges of unemployment that have fanged national growth”.

The opposition leader further appealed to major players in the league to carefully consider his submission while assuring the president of his unalloyed commitment to seeing a working Nigeria.

Comrade Fyenda is a lawyer and a strategist on International Affairs and Strategic Studies, a training he got from the Nigeria Defense Academy (NDA). He had served as a Nigerian Army and very well groomed in military and civil conventions.
