Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Achebe

The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, has flayed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),
over the poor conduct of 2023 presidential election and lack of transparency in the judgment of Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal (PEPT).
Addressing members of Onitsha community and guests at the 22nd Ofala festival held at Imeobi Onitsha, the monarch lamented that these have triggered off protest by Nigerians.
He said : “The uncertainty has been further complicated by the continuing concerns in most parts of the country”.
He said that President Bola Tinubu’s early economic measures, including unilateral removal of fuel subsidy without back up strategy seriously deepened the hardships in the country especially at the lower rung of the society.
In his speech Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, lauded Achebe for his 22nd Ofala festival celebration.
He said his administration is working hard to reinvent Onitsha, stressing that in the next few weeks, there would be something about security in the state.
