One killed, five hospitalized in Anambra auto

A devastating auto accident occurred at Ukpo junction by Onitsha-Nteje-Awka Expressway in Anambra State on Monday night, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving five others injured.
The fatal crash involved two vehicles and is a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident was caused by wrongful overtaking, and the driver of one of the vehicles attempted to overtake another vehicle on the same lane, leading to a head-on collision.
The accident involved a commercial Toyota Delica bus with registration number; NZN116LK and private Toyota Diana, with registration number; ACA529XA.
According to an eyewitness, the bus driver was trying to overtake another vehicle on the same lane and rammed into a vehicle coming from opposite direction on a single carriage way and crashed.
Confirming the accident,
the Ag Sector Public Education Officer FRSC Anambra State, RC Margaret B Onabe said the incident happened around 7 pm on Monday and six persons were involved, three male adults and three female adults.
According to her, one died and five others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The Spokesperson attributed the fatal crash to possible wrong overtaking.
She also disclosed that the injured victims were immediately rushed to Borromeo Mission Hospital Onitsha by FRSC rescue team from RS5.33 Nteje for medical attention where one female adult was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty and the corpse deposited at the morgue.
”The rescue team managed traffic, towed the two vehicles to the command and ensured obstructions caused by the crash were cleared,” she said.
She also stated that the Sector Commander Anambra State Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi has commiserated with the family of the dead victim, and wishes the injured victims quick recovery.
He admonished motorist to avoid reckless driving especially at night time, watch and ensure the road is clear before overtaking.
