The Onitsha Sports Club has issued a strong warning to the general public, urging people to stay away from the club’s property and its surrounding area.
In a statement by the President of the club, Chief Daniel Okafor anyone found trespassing on the property or engaging in any unauthorized activities would be dealt with according to the law.
He stated that Onitsha Sports Club is not for sale and warned anyone who may be deceived into making any form of purchase does it at his own peril.
According to the President, some scrupulous elements, wielding all sorts of arms and ammunition had involved the promises of Onitsha Sports Club on Saturday, August 10, 2024 by 1.30am, destroying properties worth over one billion, five hundred million Naira.
Some of the properties destroyed include the newly built one story staff quarters, the ultra modern auditorium complex built by Senator Stella Oduah, over five hundred assorted economic trees.
Chief Okafor said that the matter is still in court, hence, it’s contempt of court to destroy the property of Onitsha Sports Club.
President Okafor calls on the federal and state governments, Inspector General of Police and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe to intervene in the matter.
The Onitsha Sports Club was founded in 1924 as a recreational centre to connect, network and foster business relationship.
