Opposition leader gives 1 year insurance support to Gov Otu’s medical programme

Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe,  representing Cross River North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has given one-year free health insurance coverage for 500 constituents in the five local government areas of the district.

 Governor Bassey Otu’s has a medical insurance programme, started by his predecessor, where citizens are required to pay N12,000 annually to benefit from the free health services ‘People First’ agenda.

Jarigbe has therefore paid for 500 persons to benefit from one-year free health insurance coverage as a way of expanding access to lifesaving care.

Speaking at the cheque presentation for he insurance cover held at General Hospital, Ogoja, Senator Jarigbe, represented by Esther Ellah, said the health Insurance support is designed to provide unhindered access to quality medical care by his constituents without financial hardship.

 Senator Jarigbe emphasized that this intervention transcends political affiliations, reaffirming his commitment to prioritizing the well-being of his people above partisan considerations.

He implored beneficiaries to take full advantage of the programme while urging them to ensure proper identification when accessing medical services to facilitate seamless healthcare delivery

Director general of Cross River State Health Insurance Agency, Chief Godwin Iyala received the cheque, saying it will boost health  development in the state.

Iyala assured that rigorous monitoring and evaluation mechanisms would be implemented to guarantee the judicious allocation of funds.
