Osofisan, Egbokhare speak at 2020 Nigeria Academy of Letters Annual Lecture

Renowned academics, including Professor Emeritus, Femi Osofisan, Professor Francis Egbokhare, and the Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, are among distinguished scholars billed to speak at this year’s rescheduled Nigeria Academy of Letters lecture.
The 2020 lecture entitled: “History and the Mythopoeic Vocation: The Nation as Capricious Grand Guignol?” will be delivered by Prof Emeritus Femi Osofisan.
The University of Calabar is billed to host the 2020 rescheduled NAL annual lecture, according to Chairman of local organising committe and the Director, Teaching and Learning Excellence, Uninversity of Calabar, Prof Monday T. Joshua.
He said it is an honour done UNICAL to host such a prestigious lecture.
“The 2020 edition of the annual lecture series of NAL, scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2020, was postponed due to some unforeseen circumstances.
“It will now hold virtually (Zoom) on Thursday, March 4th, 2021, at 10 am (WAT) with Prof Florence Obi as chief host.
“The lecture will be chaired by the President of NAL, Professor Francis Egbokhare, and Professor Ayobami Kehinde as Secretary, NAL.”
According to the statement by the Secretary, NAL, Prof Kehinde Ayobami, and made available to journalists in Calabar, it said that the Meeting ID is 895 431 0035 just as it commended the University of Calabar for sponsoring and ‘hosting’ the Lecture.
He said the Vice Chancellor, UNICAL, Prof Florence Obi, will deliver a welcome address, urging all the participants to log in on time as the committee has made all necessary arrangements to make it a success
The Nigerian Academy of Letters, was inaugurated at a meeting held at the University of Ibadan on November 14, 1991.
It is the apex organisation of the Nigerian academics and scholars in humanities and aimed at promoting academic excellence in all branches of humanities.
