Over 250 international, local exhibitors expected at 17th Abuja Trade Fair, focus on SMEs digitalization

Over 250 international and local exhibitors are expected to participate in this year’s Abuja International Trade Fair, 17th in the series.
Already, 150 local exhibitors and 100 international exhibitors across various sectors and categories have made concrete bookings to participation in the ten days event beginning from September 30th. It will end on October 10th.
The President, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (ACCI), Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar made this known at a news conference to formally announce events leading to the Trade Fair. He was represented by ACCI Vice President, Mines and Chairman, National Chamber of Commerce Trade Centre (NCCTC), Dr. Johnson Anene. Dr. Anene is also of the Fair’s planning committee.
This year’s Fair has as theme “Creating an Export Ready Market Through SMEs Digitization” which the ACCI President said offers a range of opportunities for SMEs to improve performance and spur innovation.

He said it would also enhance productivity and compete on a more even footing with larger firms, reflecting, economies of scale, lower operation and transaction costs and reduced information asymmetries.
According to him, digital tools bring many significant benefits for firms as digitalization reduces transaction costs by providing better and quicker access to information, and communication between businesses, suppliers and networks.
Dr. Abubakar noted that over the past decade, the emergence of increasingly powerful digital technologies and digital infrastructures have transformed and continue to transform business processes, organizations, and corporate culture with new innovation processes, marketing models, and types of products and services.
He pointed out that since its inception, Abuja Trade Fair has served Nigeria as a trusted global trade destination and a potential market for over 50,000 consumers.
The President also noted that the fair is a global platform, which provides an avenue where businessmen, entrepreneurs, service providers, and many others converge.

According to him, it also provides an avenue for the distribution of trade, investment, market opportunities, and ideas that would greatly help sellers, buyers, investors, and countries to promote relationships in business.
Aside promoting businesses, Dr. Abubakar stressed that the 17th Trade Fair will also strengthen trade and investment opportunities in the country, thus, offering a neutral and open atmosphere for blue-chip companies, trade groups/associations, and government.
Representative of the FCT Minister, Secretary, Economic Planning, Revenue Generation and PPP for FCT Administration, Hon. Agboola Lukman Dabiri said the Trade Fair will show case the Federal Capital Territory to the world.
He said during the FCT Special Day at the Fair, their focus will be “Adopt a project” policy where investors would be given some amount to own a business as their baby.
The Fair is expected to be officially declared open on October 4th by President Muhammadu Buhari.
