The Owerri- Ezukala Community in Orumba South Council Area of Anambra State has completed the second phase of the community Choose -Your -Project programme initiated by the present Governor Willie Obiano administration.
The project which is a Civic Center has been painted ready for use.
Our correspondent, reports that the one story building that will serve as civic center for the Owerri-Ezukala community which has been completed and painted housed two halls with four conveniences, four offices and more.
Speaking after inspecting work on the building being the second phase of the twenty million naira community choice project, the traditional ruler of the community Igwe Thomas Ogbonnaya, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done on the project, and thanked Governor Obiano for initiating such a wonderful community development programme.
He said that the civic center which was built on a communal and sacred land of Ogbambiaka, will serve the community in various capacities like venue for community and village meetings, receptions and other social activities.
On his part, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Liaison, who is a son of the community, Chief Ogechukwu Nduche, praised Governor Obiano for the initiative saying that both the first and second tranches are of immense benefit to his community, even as he expressed their readiness to commence the third phase.
The contractor of the project Chief Sunday Nnebe said while at the job which took him six months to deliver, he has no delay with the release of fund as the money was given to the community in bulk for speedy completion of the project.
Other stakeholders in the community who spoke to our correspondent including the leader of the youths in the community Mr. Hillary Okaformmetu, a former President General in the community Chief Martin Orji, Chief Felix Nwangwu and Princess Ginika Ogbonnaya, applauded Governor Obiano for being a man of his words promising to continue to support his administration to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to Ndi Anambra.
They also commended the contractor Chief Nnebe for doing a good job and for delivering on time.
