Payment of Taraba pensioners resolved

Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku says payment of pensioners in the state have been resolved.

The Governor made the clarification at a Press Conference marking his sixth anniversary in office in Jalingo over the weekend

He said his administration was determined to clear all cases of pending salaries so as to for stall industrial harmony.

Governor Darius Ishaku maintained that as a labour friendly Governor, he had always paid workers’ salaries until the decline in the state finances following the global economic meltdown associated with COVID nineteen.

On the issue of the current agitation by workers in the state over the thirty thousand naira minimum wage advised labour to be realistic in making the demand as the state’s economy would not support such expenditure following fall in statutory allocations.

He stressed that even in the face of daunting challenges, his administration would not embark on retrenchment of workers as that would be counter productive.

The Governor called on Labour to embrace dialogue in putting forward their demands at all times instead of embarking on strike actions.
