PDP, APC suspend campaigns in Plateau in honour of PDP supporters involved in accident

Two contenders of the governorship elections in Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang of the PDP and Nentawe Yilwatda of the APC have directed the immediate suspensions of their ongoing governorship campaigns.
Their seperate actions was in sympathy with the families of some supporters of the PDP who lost their lives while returning from the governorship campaign in the north central zone of the state.
According to the PDP in a statement, “in further demonstration of his grief and as a mark of honour to PDP members who were involved in a ghastly road accident on Saturday evening near the Panyam bridge, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the PDP Barr Caleb Mutfwang, after due consultation, has suspended all campaign activities with immediate effect”, Yiljap Abraham, Director

Plateau State said.
The Candidate has also called for “intense” prayers for divine comfort of families and individuals who are bereaved and healing of the injured, while stating that the dead will ever remain fresh in the memories of PDP members and admirers as they are lifted up as heroes of democracy, the statement added.
In a similar position, the governorship Candidate of the APC in solidarity with his rival, ordered the suspension of his campaign tour for three days.
A statement from Shittu Bamaiyi, the Spokesman, Generation Next Campaign Council, the decision was to honour “some supporters of the People’s Democratic Party who died in an auto-accident along Panyam -Pankshin road”
According to the statement,
“Nentawe on receipt of the news of the accident immediately cut short his citizen engagement tour of the southern part of the state.
“Nentawe disclosed that the suspension became necessary to allow him and members of his party join the PDP, it’s governorship Candidate and the families of the deceased in mourning the accident victims”
It stated that the APC governorship Candidate in company of members his campaign council, visited tye the accident victims at the Jos University Teaching hospital where he sorrowfully sympathised them.
The APC governorship candidate also used the sad occasion to pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased and also sympathised with the families who lost loved ones.
This was the second mishap involving the PDP supporters since it commence its statewide campaigns on Monday last week.
