Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria in Cross River State, Dominic Okweche has taken their plights to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, seeking for his supports.

Okweche made the appeal when he led members of his executive on a courtesy call on the Speaker, Elvert Ayambem.

He listed arrays of issues affecting his organisation which have stalled national attention as well as welfare of his members, especially those in the state.

He sought for greater involvement of his organisation in pro-security issues.

Okweche congratulated Ayambem for becoming the Speaker of the 10th Assembly as well as his doors open policy.

He appealed to the Speaker to help look into the welfare package of Peace Corps members.

Welcoming the Peace Corps leadership in his office, the Speaker promised to use his office to respond to issues they raised.

Ayambem commended the patience and commitment of the Peace Corps in ensuring safety of the people in the state.

He said, “I thank you for coming and welcome you wholeheartedly. I commend you for your patience and commitment towards the safety of the people of Cross River and Nigeria at large.

“I assure you that I will use my office and the entire Assembly to respond to issues concerning the Peace Corps,” he said.
