Performance evaluation critical in civil service staff progression – NCPC Executive Secretary, Bishop Adegbite

By Anthony Maliki, Abuja

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has stated that performance evaluation of staff in the civil service is very critical to their career progression.

He made this assertion in Abuja Tuesday, while addressing staff of the Commission during their 2024 promotion examination exercise.

This was contained in a statement by Celestine Toruka, NCPC’s Deputy Director and Head, Media and Public Relations.

He stated that the promotion of officers from one grade level to another helps to galvanize and spur them to put in their best in their various duty posts.

Bishop Adegbite affirmed that promotion examinations are a normal exercise in the civil service and that it is in the character of his administration to ensure that staff are motivated.

He admonished them not to be found wanting in the examination but to approach it with maturity. He urged them not to entertain any fear, as he expects them to come out in flying colors.

The NCPC boss further enjoined the candidates for the promotion examination to always have the fear of God in their hearts. “There is nothing you can do without God, as with God, all things are possible.”

About 33 senior staff of the Commission participated in the NCPC 2024 promotion examination exercise.

Interestingly, this is the first promotion examination to be conducted under the leadership of the Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, since his assumption of office on February 5, 2024, as the 4th substantive Executive Secretary of the Commission.
