Peter Obi denounces doctored photos with Trump, MC Oluomo

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate, has dismissed as fake the images circulating on social media that allegedly show him with the U.S. President Donald Trump and Nigerian political figure MC Oluomo.
Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, issued a statement via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, urging the public to ignore the fabricated photos.
He described them as the work of political propagandists intent on misleading and distracting Nigerians.
“My attention has been drawn to some pictures currently circulating on social media, falsely portraying meetings I never had,” Obi wrote.
“One such image falsely shows me with US President Donald Trump, alongside a fabricated claim that he praised me.
“Another attempts to depict me with MC Oluomo in his office. I want to state clearly that both images are fake and doctored, and the accompanying stories are completely false. I have not had any recent meeting with Mr. Trump or MC Oluomo.”
Obi further condemned the individuals behind the manipulated images, accusing them of embarking on a “satanic mission” aimed at confusing the public and derailing political discourse.
Political analysts suggest that the rise in such smear tactics could be tied to Obi’s growing influence ahead of the 2027 elections.
Efforts to discredit him, they argue, may only serve to enhance his profile and public support.
