‎Pioneer FCT NUJ Chairman, Suleiman Kaura, is dead

The pioneer chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed Kaura has died Saturday morning January 17, in Kaduna.

‎Apex News Exclusive gathered that Kaura, who retired from the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), has been ill for sometime with his colleagues contributing money to foot his medical bill at the Barua Dikko Teaching Hospital, Kaduna, where he later died.

‎Late Kaura worked at various parts of Nigeria reporting for both Hausa and English sections including his time in Makurdi, Benue State where he worked for a long time becoming a household name.

‎He has been buried at the Bachama Road cemetery, Tudun Wada Kaduna after Zuhr (Azuhur) prayer at Maiduguri Road Mosque.

‎He worked at the then Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation in Sokoto from 1973 to 1975 where he was an programme assistant and presenter.


‎A close associate of late Kaura and Editor-in-Chief of Apex News Exclusive, Anthony Maliki, described the deceased journalist as dedicated and committed to his work at all times.


‎According to Maliki, who was Benue State correspondent of Champion Newspaper said he benefitted from the mentorship of late Kaura as a senior journalist.


‎A statement by the Secretary NUJ FRCN, Ibrahim sulaiman, said members who intends to pay their condolences on the passing of Kaura, that his relatives are currently  at Jakar Magori premises.
