Chikas Kumle

By Raymond Gukas, Jos

To mark 2020 International Women’s Day, Chikas Kumle from Plateau State will be among top 20 recipients of the global women of excellence award in  the  United States of America.

She will be receiving the award in Chicago, USA in recognition of her rare courage that has propelled her to this level to make  her father land proud.

Kumle cut her teeth in politics when she was elected the Chairman of the Plateau Youth Council (PYC), Pankshin LGC branch in 2015 and this gave her the impetus to contest for the House of Assembly seat of Pankshin South under the Social Democratic Party, (SDP).

Though she lost the contest, she never allowed that to discourage  her in her determination to make an impact in her society.

This singular act was the tonic to turn around things in her chosen path as she engaged in so many feminist activities there
after, and was accorded so much recognition.

She was not only invited to many talk shows and gatherings, she received several awards locally. Her courage has earned her
International recognition for which she is celebrated today.
She has broken one major barrier of the women struggle, which is the lack of courage.
