The camp of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), governorship candidate for Plateau State is worried over what it described as the “frightening” happenings that may derail the chances of the party in the coming polls.

A competent source who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the candidate, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda is however; hopeful that the matter would be resolved soon.

However, in a couple of days, a faction of the party headed by Ishaya Itse expelled from the party; it’s “other State” chairman, Rufus Bature for anti party activities and advised the governor, Simon Lalong “to stop dealing with the suspended individuals for the growth of the party”

In addition, Itse said the Secretary to the State Government, Danladi Atu should also proceed on expulsion over the same reason.

As the dust was still raging, the publicity Secretary of the other faction with sympathy of the governor Silvernus Namang said in a release that the 17-member SWC had ratified the expulsion of the same Itse who was previously expelled by his ward executive of Jos-Jarawa over his alleged disrespect for the APC.

But Itse in a statement insist that, “in view of the misconduct of some members of the party which is contrary to the constitution of the party, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Hon Ishaya itse on behalf of the members of the executive committee has expelled the secretary to government of plateau prof Danladi Atu and suspends the factional chairman of the party Rufus Bature over alleged anti-party activities”

The statement further stated that the suspension was “endorsed by a good number of the members of the state executive committee, which has Governor Simon Lalong as a member; hence cannot be ignored”OU

Meanwhile, the faction with the Governor’s sympathy, which ratified the decision taken by the local electoral ward of the embattled Itse, “called on security agencies to keep a close watch on the expelled Itse who could cause serious breach of peace as he has allowed himself to be used as a cheap tool in the hands of detractors of the APC which has a duly elected state exco under the Chairmanship of Hon. Rufus Bature whose election with 35 other exco members was duly conducted by officers from the National Secretariat of the party in October 2022.

“The SWC also directed the immediate withdrawal of all privileges hitherto enjoyed by Ishaya Itse which include membership of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and access to any APC office or functions.

“The party further warned those instigating Ishaya Itse to desist forthwith from their nefarious acts or be ready to face the consequences.

“The party calls on all its supporters to remain calm in the face of any distraction as it remains ever focused on delivering our candidates from top to bottom during the general elections commencing from 25th February, 2023”, Namang said in a statement.
