Plateau deploys Task Force to fuel stations as pricing causes hardship

Worried by the expensive and scarce petrol situation in the state, Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has constituted a taskforce to track and monitor the distribution of the commodity in the state.

The governor in a statement signed by his director Press and Public Affairs, Simon Makut said it become necessary in view of the hardship residents are experiencing especially with the yuletide approaching.

It said “Sequel to the protracted scarcity and hike in prices of petroleum products in Plateau State, Governor Simon Bako Lalong has approved the setting up of a Task Force to monitor the situation and restore order.

“The approval conveyed by the Secretary to the Government of the State Prof. Danladi Abok Atu indicates that the Task Force is expected to monitor the distribution and prices of the comodity by ensuring that Marketers comply with the approved pricing template and availability of the product particularly during the yuletide season”

The governor added that it must also ensure that petroleum products meant for the State are not diverted to neighbouring States among other things.

With this position, violators are to be arrested and face the laws accordingly to serve as deterrent to any body or bodies that might be engaging in such shoddy deals.

Mèmbers of the Task Force; which will be chaired by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry are his companions from the Science and Technology, Environment, Urban Development as well as Representatives of the Nigeria Police, DSS, NSCDC, Operation Rainbow, DPR, NUPENG and Petroleum Independent Marketers.

Also, Solomon Mwadkon is the Secretary of the Task Force while Mohammad Suleiman Kutigi is a member it stated.
