Governor Mutfwang with his challenger, Dr. Nentawe, left, exchange pleasantries at the Supreme Court before the judgment

Plateau State erupted in ecstacy as the governorship election litigation between the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress, (APC) came to an end, with incumbent governor, Caleb Mutfwang’s victory has been finally affirmed.
Supporters of the governor took to most parts of Jos metropolis chanting victory songs holding posters of Mutfwang.
Since the National Electoral Commission of Nigeria, (INEC), announced Mutfwang of the PDP shortly after the March 2023 governorship polls, the APC felt the announcement was not a reflection of what transpired during the election.
This led the APC to challenge the election at the Election Petition Tribunal which upheld Mutfwang’s victory.
Not done, the APC appealed the judgement at the Court of Appeal alleging Mutfwang and his party lacks the capacity to sponsor all its candidate because the PDP had no functional structure to do that.
The appellate court; justified this position and ruled against the governorship election tribunal, which had earlier affirmed Mutfwang and his party as duly elected and turn down the lower court’s judgement and declared Nentawe as duly elected.
Not satisfied with the court of appeal ‘s decision to quash his victory, Mutfwang and his party approached the Supreme Court which has the final say on the matter and eventually the apex court ruled in favour of the PDP.
