By Raymond Gukas, Jos
Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has described the confirmation of Dr. Pokop Wushipba Bupwatda as substantive Chief Medical Director, (CMD), of the Jos University Teaching Hospital, (JUTH), as a testimony of his administrative and managerial skills.
Lalong in a statement signed by his Director Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Simon Makut said the confirmation did not surprise him based on the record he had while on acting capacity as CMD.
According to the governor, Dr. Pokop has endeared himself to the hearts of the staff of JUTH and has prioritised the activities in the institution; sieving what was important and what was not.
The confirmation has brought a sigh of relief to JUTH staff because they anticipated it long before now, he said.
The governor noted that some of the greatest strides the new CMD achieved while on acting capacity was the payment of promotion arrears, conducting promotion exams and giving credence to service delivery among other things which are worthy of commendation.
As a state, he assured that the government will provide all necessary support to enable him succeed in the task of taking JUTH to it’s enviable position.
The news of the confirmation of Dr Pokop was received with fanfares as the people see in him, the capacity to salvaging the health institution after suffering from maladministration from previous heads.
