Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong and APC Senatorial Candidate for Plateau South District has met with his Campaign Council at the Zonal Headquarters in Shendam.

He was received on arrival at the Senatorial Campaign Headquarters by the Zonal APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa and the DG Campaign Hon. Nanvel Nimfel.

Briefing Governor Lalong on the activities of the Campaign Council so far, the DG Hon. Nanven Nimfel said the team has continued to carry out a robust engagement across the wards and units of the six local governments of the zone.

He said the candidacy of Governor Lalong for Senate has been well received by people at the grassroots who are optimistic that he will perform well and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the zone.

He assured the candidate that the team is working round the clock in carrying out door to door campaigns aimed at not only selling his candidacy, but also that of other candidates of the APC including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for President.

Responding, Governor Lalong thanked the Campaign Council for their efforts and said while he is away on assignment as DG Tinubu/Shettima Campaign, he has been receiving reports of their fantastic work across all structures of the party.

He said from all indications, Nigerians are determined to return APC to power at all levels including the Plateau South Senatorial Zone which is a home of the APC.

He admonished them to remain dedicated and committed to the mandate as well as avoid distractions from those who want to deceive the people using all forms of methods.

Earlier the Governor had commissioned a hospitality facility, the Shendam Marriotte Hotel.

Governor Lalong commended the brains behind the wonderful facility as well as the management consortium, Efan Hospitality Group for making a bold move to come to Shendam.

He said “As the motto of the Hotel suggests, Shendam Marriotte Hotel is a “Diamond in the South” which seeks to close the gap in the hospitality industry in this part of the State. Prior to this development, there has been perennial shortage of accommodation for guests who come to Shendam or the other parts of the Southern Zone for business, leisure or conferences”.

The Governor said with the expansive road networks that the Rescue Administration has developed in Shendam and neighboring towns, there is huge potential for economic activities in this zone.

He also informed the gathering that the Transmission Company of Nigeria has resumed work to complete the Makeri-Guratop-Pankshin 132 KVA Line which will supply power to the Central and Southern parts of Plateau, as well as parts of Taraba and Bauchi States within the next three months.

The Long Gamai Miskoom Martin Shaldas III welcomed the facility which he said will boost the profile of Shendam that is a gateway for people coming to Plateau State through Taraba State.

Managing Director of Efan Hospitality Group, Martina Akintola said the organisation decided to establish the hotel in Shendam because of peace, prospect and warm reception of the people of the area.

She assured that the best services will be offered when this critical power project is completed and commissioned, the entire Central and Southern Zone will witness a massive boost in economic activities.

The Governor later inspected the facility together with other top dignitaries.
