Plateau Our Heritage (POH) has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for addressing one of the demands of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) by approving the Constitution of Visitation Panels to 38 Federal Universities and Inter-University Centres.
The group in a statement signed by its chief, Alex Kwapnoe and Secretary, Friday Bako said the gesture will go a long way to address certain issues that have been adversely affecting Federal Universities and Interuniversity Centres in Nigeria.
Worthy of note, it said was the inclusion of some illustrious sons and daughters of the State as Chairman and Members of the visitation panels in the various universities across the country.
It said “this goes to indicate the trust and confidence reposed on those appointed and their ability to deliver the herculean tasks creditably well.
“Worthy of mention include the appointment of Prof. Monday Mwangvwat as the Chairman Visitation Panel to Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, Prof. Danladi Slim Matawal, member University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. (Mrs) Patricia Lar, member, NINLAN Aba, Abia State and Prof. Bonaventure Nkup Haruna, member University of Ilorin.”
Others are “Mrs Anna Fakkah (CNA) member, Usman Danfodiyo University, Prof. Otsanjugu A T Namo, University of Port Harcourt, Mr. Frederick Durlong, member Moddibo Adama University of Technology, Yola, Col. Danladi Nyelong Adamu (CNA), member, University of Abuja, Mr. Luka Yusuf Gambo, member, University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Arc. John Alkali, member, National Open University of Nigeria”.
Also are “Prof. Mrs Fungvel Bibiana Bawa, member, Federal University, Lafia, Sen. Mrs Nora Ladi Dadu’ut, member, Nigeria French Language Village, Badagry, Lagos, Mr. Edmund Attahiru, member, Centre for Arabic Studies, Ngala Borno State and Dr. Jurbe Joseph Molwus, member, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta as contained in an announcement dated 11th January, 2021 by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education”.
POH posited that those appointed are men & women of substance who have distinguished themselves and are contributing greatly to nation-building.
While we congratulate all those appointed, we urge them to put in their best to justify the trust and confidence reposed in them by Mr. President.
The group promised to accord the appointees the needed support to enable them succeed.
