Police in Adamawa nab fake female VIO for job racketeering

Operatives of the Adamawa Police Command attached to the State Intelligent Department (SID) have apprehended a female fake VIO for job racketeering.
The woman, a resident of Army Barracks Road, Yola North local Government area was arrested on April 22nd 2025 based on credible intelligence report.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje said the suspect on several occasions impersonated as Vehicle Inspection Officer (V.I.O) and defrauded the following persons Blessing Kefas, Abel Samuel, Evelyn Amos, and Friday Adamu of the sum of ₦350,000, under the pretense of securing employment for them with the Vehicle Inspection Office, Ministry of Transportation in Adamawa State.
Nguroje said the suspect confessed committing the crime disclosing that the V.I.O’s uniform used in the fraudulent act was given to her by yet to be identified person.
The Commissioner of Police Adamawa State CP Dankombo Morris urged members of the public to report people of questionable character and assured of diligent Investigation to uncover other possible victims and collaborators involved in the crime.
