The Special Anti Robbery Squad of the Anambra State Police Command on Sunday stormed carjackers” den in the state and arrested three suspects.
It recovered a bus and a Sports Utility Vehicle from them as well as arms and ammunition.
The recovered Toyota Highlander Jeep, it was gathered, was allegedly snatched from one Christopher Oraukwu at gunpoint on the Ekwulobia road in the Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state,Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, stating that suspects were arrested at their hideouts in Achalla/ Nkpor area of the state.
He said they had confessed to the crime and would be charged as soon as investigations were concluded.
Mohammed added “It would be recalled that a Toyota Highlander jeep with registration number APP 49 FM and other valuables belonging to one Christopher Oraukwu ,aged 54 years were snatched at gunpoint along Ekwulobia road Aguata.
“Following the report, police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad swung into action and arrested the suspects.
He gave the names of the suspects as Chidi Ugoji ( 31) from Ukpo, Dunukofia LGA, Okoye Onyebuchi (34) of Umunachi of the same LGA and Onwe Chigozie (22) of Ikwo, Ebonyi State.
The PPRO said ,”the suspects were arrested at their hideouts in Achalla/ Nkpor area and have voluntatily confessed to the crime.
“Exhibits recovered in their possession include one pump action gun, one-cut to size double barrel gun, four life catridges, one Mitsubishi L300 bus used by the syndicate for their robbery operations and the snatched Toyota Highlander jeep.
