Police recruitment: Bauchi Governor warns LG chairmen over issuance of indigene certification to non-indigenes

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has canvassed for equitable, fair and equal recruitment opportunities in to all Federal Agencies in line with Federal character and justice. 
The Governor also charged the 20 local government Chairmen in the state to desist from indiscriminate issuance of indegene certificates to non indegenes in order not to shortchange people of the state whi are to benefit from the federal appointments. 
The Governor was speaking at the North-East Zonal Stakeholders Sensitization meeting on the misconceptions of Police recruitment held at  the old Banquet Hall of the Government House, Bauchi. 
Bala Mohammed said that his administration remains committed to the protection of lives and properties of all citizens of the state stressing that his administration will ensure that the citizens of the state get recruited into Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in the country. 
The Governor who was represented by the SSG, Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim frowned at  the attitude of some LGCs Chairmen, traditional rulers and other stakeholders who are found of shortchanging the state byl issuing certificate of indigeneship to non-indegenes declaring that such unpatriotic acts must stop henceforth. 
He then urged the participants from the state to listen attentively in order to ensure that they used what will be said at  the workshop for the good of the state as far as issues of Police recruitment is concerned. 
In his presentation, Chairman of Police Service Commission, former IGP Musliu Smith (rtd) said that the event sought to among other things familiarize citizens with the activities of the Commission, ongoing Police recruitment, lessons learned, improving Police /citizens relationships and citizens engaging with NPF/Security mechanism at the Community level. 
Musiliu Smith who was represented by Commissioner 1 in the Commission, Justice Clara Bata Ogunbiyi assured that the Commission is ready to ensure that only the best materials were recruited into the Police Force urging the concerned states to enure that they filled the quota allotted to them. 
In his remarks, Bauchi State Head of the Civil Service, Yahuza Adamu Haruna said that the state government will seize the opportunity offer by ensuring that its eligible citizens got recruited into the Police Force by filling its quota for growth and development of the state. 
He assured that his office will work in synergy with the relevant offices and LGCs to ensure that only indegenes of the state got the offer. 
Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Umar Sanda told the stakeholders that the state is seriously lagging behind in the area of Police recruitment calling on the state’s stakeholders to do something urgent to change the naration.
