Pomp as Senator Lalong witnesses Gamai cultural displays
It was a display of Gamai culture and dances at its peak as Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong joined his kinsmen at the Bit Shelyil Gamai cultural festival in Shendam on Easter Monday.
Lalong described the display of rich culture and dances of the Gamai people as another step towards growing the heritage of the land.
He said the event which he had promised to sponsor during the last Bit Gamai Cultural Festival was meant to give the people adequate time and space to express themselves through cultural exhibitions.
Lalong noted that during the annual Bit Gamai festival, the traditional groups rarely have time to show the real essence of the Gamai culture due to competing items on the program.
However, he noted that this event hosted in conjunction with the Gamai Unity and Development Organisation attracted various traditional dancers and exhibitions from various parts of Gamailand.
He thanked the people for coming out and participating actively which shows that the threats posed by globalisation is being curtailed effectively.
The Galadiman Shendam who represented the Long Gamai of Gamailand HRH Miskoom Martin Shaldas III thanked Senator Lalong for sponsoring the event and also appreciated the enthusiasm and participation of the people.
He urged other sons and daughters of the land to take a cue from Senator Lalong and ensure that the culture and traditions of Gamailand is not destroyed by globalisation.
