Prince Festus Emeka Udodeme has emerged the new President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra State Chapter in a peaceful election conducted in Awka.
Similar exercise for executive of Ohanaeze Ndigbo at Local Government Areas of Anambra State was held on Wednesday, and both the State and Local Governments executives were inaugurated after the successful election.
Other elected State Executive members of the Igbo umbrella organization are: Barrister Titus Akpudo-Vice-President; Mr. Chukwudubem Okafor-Secretary; Mr. Godwin Iwuchukwu -Treasurer; Mr. Fredrick Nwafor-Financial Secretary and Mr. Samuel Udogalanya-Assistant Secretary.
Others are Mr. Gilbert Olumba-Publicity Secretary; Mr. Peter Ezeofor-Organizing Secretary; Mr. Emmanuel Emelife-Assistant Treasurer; Mr. Samuel Nweke-Assistant Publicity Secretary; Mr. Innocent Nwabuike-Assistant Financial Secretary and Mr. Moses Odianma-Assistant organizing Secretary.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra State chapter, Prince Udodeme, who promised a befitting Secretariat for the association.
He stressed the need to entrench Ohanaeze Ndigbo at grassroot level, even as he promised to use his position to advance the interest of Ndigbo at all times.
Earlier in his remark, the outgone President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Anambra State chapter, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, commended the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, for his supports, especially in ensuring that the association is free from political interference, urging the new executives to sustain the culture of Ndigbo, and further raise the standard of the association.
The Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Worldwide, Chief Charles Odunukwe, who commended the peaceful nature of the exercise, said the National election of Ohaneze Ndigbo coming up soon, will follow suit, describing the association as the mouthpiece of Ndigbo.
The exercise, organised in compliance with COVID-19 protocols, was supervised by some elder statesmen, including Elder Chris Eluemuno, National Officer of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Paddy Njoku, Retired Major General Godwin Ugwuoke, Chief Dubem Onyia, all representing Ohaneze Ndigbo Secretariat, Ichie Aaron Muorah, representing Ohaneze Ndigbo United Kingdom, Chief Monday Ikokwu, representing Association of South East Town Unions, ASETU, and Chief Elvis Chukwu, representing Izu-Umunna.
