Proclaim the truth at all times, FCT CAN Chairman tells Journalists

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), FCT Chapter, Rev. Jonah Samson, has urged Christian Journalists to always proclaim the truth at all times and project the nation’s image positively.

Samson gave this advice when members of the Christian Fellowship Media Practitioners in Nigeria (CFMPN), FCT chapter, paid him a visit in his office, Maitama, Abuja.

“We live in a world that people want to rationalise the truth, but the Bible tells us in John 8:32 that we shall know the truth and the same truth will set us free.

” So, one of the ways you can be of help to us is to continually proclaim the truth in season and out of season, it might not be pleasant but you have to stand by the truth at all times” he said.

The cleric, who noted that journalism is a delicate profession even in Nigeria, said that Journalists have had to suffer all kinds of persecution.

He encouraged the group of Christian Journalists to always stand for what is right, true, just and honourable.
While speaking on some of the challenges the Church is facing in Nigeria, the cleric urged the group to assist and support CAN.

“We face persecution in so many ways and dimension, one of the ways you can be of help to us is by standing with the body and also proclaiming the truth the way it is”.

For his part, Pastor Emmanuel Zakari, who led the group of Christian Journalists, said the visit was aimed at strengthening the bond existing between them.

He said that CAN is the mother body of all Christian Associations in the FCT, hence the necessity to pay homage to the leadership of the Association.

Rev. Samson, while fielding questions from journalists, encouraged the public to be calm in the face of the current outbreak of the COVID-19, saying that we have surmounted this kind of trial before and this one will not be different.

The cleric urged Nigerians to obey the rules and be hygienic by keeping their environment clean at all times.

Samson, the Pastor in charge of EWCA GoodNews Church, Abuja, further encouraged journalists in the light of the increased insecurity in the country to be cautious and watchful.

According to him, though, insecurity is heightened but people are interceding for the nation and God is able to preserve Nigeria.

He also stressed the need to continually be the salt and the light of the nation even as Christ has instructed the Church and Christians.

Other executive members of the group include NAN Chaplain and National Vice President, Rev. Felix Ajide, National Secretary, St Reuben Okala, former NTA broadcaster, NTA Fellowship Coordinator, Pastor Oyinlolye Adebayo and the  Legal Adviser, Mrs Chendo Lilien among others.(NAN)
