Prohibited goods worth over N22m intercepted by Zone B customs strike force

Uncustoms goods with a Duty Paid Value of N22,225,950.00 have been intercepted and seized by the CGC Strike Force Zone B in Yola, Adamawa/Taraba states axis.

The team was led by the Coordinator of the Strike Force in “Zone B” Deputy Comptroller , Olorukoba Oseni Aliyu.

Briefing newsmen on the breakthrough in Yola, DC Oseni said the interception were made possible through the concerted professional expertise and intelligence report received by his men when they were on a routine check.

According to him , among items recovered are: Foreign rice 185x 50 bags, worth of N8,855.520, Also second hand clothes 26 bales Jimbo size valued at N3,526.500., petroleum products) PMS 378 jerricans worth N4,582,728.

Engine oil (AGO) 425kegs jericans also valued at N4,476.00. Foreign medicated soup 60 cartons worth N332,103 and illicit drugs/Tramadol/Declofenac 496 sachet. All with a total DPV of N22,234,409.00.

DC Oseni Aliyu who appreciated the Comptroller- General of Nigerian Customs Service (Rtd) Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali for the enormous manpower and the logistic support he is giving to his team advised smugglers to desist from cutting corners and warned that if they fail, they would be intercepted and be prosecuted accordingly.

Meanwhile,the same team intercepted 404 blocks of canibis sativa worth N32m in Sokoto while they also seized another contraband items worth N234m in the second quarter of 2021.
