Protest: Female traditional ruler urges federal government to reduce fuel price, commends youths

The village head of Aka Efa community in Calabar Municipality of Cross  River State,  Her Royal Highness (HRH) Henrietta Efa Akpera has appealed to the federal government to reduce the price of Premium Motor Spirit, (PMS), as it is the cause of the ongoing nationwide protest.

In an interview,  the only female traditional ruler said once this is done, the hyperinflation in the country will abate and the current tension will also subside. 

She appealed to Nigerian youths and other restive persons in other boiling states to give the national leadership a chance to address all the concerns listed.

She said, “I appeal to the federal government to do the needful by addressing the different issues raised by the protesters. 

“Government should as much as possible reduce the price of fuel which is the main cause of current hardship in Nigeria. 

“I appeal to Nigerian youths not to engage in violence as they protest. Both government and the protesters should dialogue over this concerns,” she said.

The village head was happy that youths in her domain and in most parts of the state heeded the appeals not to join the national protest made by the state governor,  Senator Bassey Otu.
