Ramadan: Mercy Foundation visits Correctional Center, donates food items

Mercy Charity Givers Foundation, a non governmental youth charity organization have have donated food items to the prison inmates at Kafanchan Custodian Center in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
Speaking while presenting the items to the prison’s officials at the Correctional Center, Muhammad Sani Adamu (Jagaba), a member of the foundation said, the foodstuff was aimed at assisting the prisoners especially those observing the Ramadan fasting.
He charged the Muslims in the custodian center to use the period of the Ramadan to pray for the nation’s unity, peace, progress and development.
He also advised them not to be discouraged over their present situation, and stressed the need for them to be well disciplined as one day one of them will become a good leader in the country.
Also, Ibrahim Musa, another member of the Foundation said the donation was to demonstrate love and care to the inmates.
He said it is important to show love and care to the inmates as their freedom may be restricted for a period of time, “but they are still citizens of this country and will be free someday,” he added.
Earlier speaking, the leader of the association, Aisha Ibrahim called on the prisoners to use their staying in the custodian center as a trial.
She advised the inmates to have a positive outlook toward life, while encouraging them to look up to God for a brighter future after carrying their terms.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the inmates, the Assistant Comptroller Lamiya Israel expressed their appreciation to the organization for remembering those in custody especially in this period.
Israel, who described the donation as humanitarian, says that it would go along way to ameliorate the condition of the inmates.
He urged them not to relent their effort in assisting the humanity at all level.
The group members donated rice, garri sugar and zobo.
