In the midst of all of the challenges facing the country, Nigerians have been encouraged to remain steadfast in seeking divine intervention in order to be able to weather through the storm.
The encouragement was made by the Wife of Deputy Governor of Gombe state, Mrs Deborah Jatau while addressing members of the Men Missionary Union (MMU) of North-East Baptist Conference during their annual meeting holding in Gombe.
Mrs Deborah Jatau added that God is ever ready to listen to the prayers and supplication of people who diligently seek His face stressing that the challenges facing the country is not beyond the control of God.
The Deputy Governor’s Wife took her message from Psalms 70 stressing the importance of prayer at all times expressing optimism that the challenges will soon fade away.
She then called for peace and peaceful coexistence among people of different religions in the country because according to her, God has created us together as Nigerians and we must accept each other that way.
Earlier, Interim President of the North-East Baptist Conference, Rev Halilu Ishaku stressed the need for leaders to lead righteously in order to ensure that people are treated equally irrespective of ethno-religious differences.
While condemning the recent crisis in Billiri LGA over the selection of a new Mai Tangale, the Interim President urged the government to do the needful by announcing the new ruler for the Chiefdom.
Halilu Ishaku assured that the Baptist denomination which has its Confidence Secretariat in Gombe state will continue to pray for the peace of the state and the North-East as a whole appealing however for the support of the government in terms of infrastructure in some areas of the state capital that is not easily accessible.
The Deputy Governor’s Wife later led rounds of intercessory prayers for Nigeria, Gombe and leaders of the people.
