Some Onitsha residents who spoke to newsmen on the condition of infrastructure in the State’s commercial town especially roads however urged the Governor to as a matter of priority hasten the construction of the strategic roads in the town
Governor Soludo in fulfilment of his promises when he assumed office about one and half years ago to rehabilitate key roads in Onitsha and environs including Okpoko awarded Niger Street to Main Market, Portharcourt Road,Miss Elems, Zik Avenue, Iweka Road, among others.
In Okpoko, Obodo-Ukwu Road, Ede Road and other roads were equally awarded but none of them has been completed.
Governor Soludo some months ago had to sack the contractor handling Niger Street to Main Market and replaced them with another contractor.
But since then no appreciable progress has been made on the road.and other roads, hence the appeal by the people for the Governor to do the needful so that the roads would be completed and the people can enjoy good road especially now that the dry season is about. to set in.
