The General Overseer of Bible Base and Miracle Assembly, Dr. Jerry Nwachukwu, has cautioned his counterparts in Pentecostal churches to be careful about their succession plans.

He said the recent resignation of the second son of Bishop David Oyedepo, the General Overseer of Winners Chapel, Isaac Oyedepo is a clear signal to owners of churches that churches are not just another company which they would bequeath to their siblings even when they don’t have the callings of God for ministry.

Dr. Nwachukwu said the resignation of Isaac who is Oyedepo’s second son and the global youth pastor should be a clear signal for church owners to review their constitutions especially as regards succession.

He said if Oyedepo’s son with all the wealth of his father including two universities, about four private jets and church branches all over the universe, yet he left, it showed that service or call of God is not about wealth but conviction of God.

“Before children succeed their fathers, they must be led by God. Isaac has shown that what matters most is not wealth but his relationship with God. I doff my hat for him. How many of our sons can take this road, clearly convinced of God’s direction for him and champion a new course,a new dawn,” Rev. Nwachukwu said.

He challenged the children of General Overseers to find out “what is God’s will for their lives, what God wants to do with them, not relying in their father’s wealth and anointing”.

He said: “Our founders should think twice and find out the purpose of God. They should allow their children to step out of their comfort zone. Don’t pigeon-hole or limit your children’s destinies”.
