It is with a sense of statesmanship that the people of Taraba State welcome the endorsement of Hon. Danladi Baido of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as the preferred governorship candidate by the former Governor, Rev. Jolly Nyame for the March 18, 2023 election.
This singular act by the former Governor has greatly shown his steadfastness and commitment to the development and peaceful coexistence among the peoples of the state.
Besides, the endorsement by the revered former Governor has shown his desire to respect the rotational arrangement of governorship position he actually spearheaded in 2007, in which Hon. Baido was made to forego his governorship ambition for the Central Senatorial District.
This led to the emergence of late Governor Danbaba Suntai.Hon. Baido never objected to that but rather threw his full weight behind the arrangement agreeing that it was fair and just.
This also further led to the shift of the governorship position to the Southern Senatorial District and the emergence of Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku which Hon. Baido, again, fully supported.
After all these zones have served their governorship terms with Governor Ishaku rounding off in May, 2023, it is only fair and just that it shifts to the Northern Senatorial to have their turn and restart the circle.
So, for Rev. Nyame to come out to endorse the candidature of Hon. Baido is not only fair but just being the lamb that was sacrificed and had not complained and supported all those who emerged since he was denied the ticket in 2007.
Rev. Nyame’s courage must be saluted and that is the right thing to do in order not to turn the apple cart and introduce another element of arrangement that will turn the people apart.
Other politicians in the state should emulate the courage of Rev. Nyame and follow his voice that the entire Tarabans should support and vote for Hon. Baido as their next Governor.
It is not a coincidence that Rev. Nyame described Hon. Baido as a leader that has the masses at heart and he will do his possible best to restore justice to all the people.
Hon. Baido is the best choice not only because he is from Taraba North that is supposed to produce the next Governor but a politician that has greatly traversed the state widely knowing the feelings and needs of peoples more than the other contestants.
Tarabans must think deeply not to make a choice that they will regret. With Baido, a new Taraba is possible.
