Royalty College of Education, Health Sciences and Technology has held its second matriculation and fourth colloquium ceremony in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The event, held over the weekend, marked the formal admission of 26 new students for the 2024/2025 academic session—11 into Health Sciences and 15 into the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme.
The occasion drew dignitaries from various sectors, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, education stakeholders, political figures, parents, and members of the host community.
In his welcome address, the Director of the college, Mr. Joel Adegboyega, expressed appreciation for the institution’s growth and urged the new students to embrace values such as innovation, compassion, and teamwork. He challenged them to become changemakers in their respective communities.
Deputy Director of the college, Mr. Ben Omas Ayuba, reiterated the institution’s commitment to delivering quality education, character development, and an innovation-driven learning environment.
Highlight of the event was a lecture delivered by Miss Sophie Ishaya of Waterbrooks Academy, themed “Education for Leadership.” She described education as “a light in the dark” and defined leadership as “the ability to influence and direct.” She advised students to go beyond classroom learning by conducting personal research, seeking mentorship, and cultivating discipline.
Representing Senator Sunday Marshal Katung of Kaduna South, Rev. Gideon Mutum conveyed the lawmaker’s goodwill and support for the college. He encouraged the institution not to despise its humble beginnings and assured them of better days ahead.
The college also presented fellowship awards to individuals who have demonstrated consistent support for educational development in the region.
Some of the new students who spoke to journalists expressed joy over their admission and pledged to make the most of the opportunity, with hopes of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s healthcare and education sectors.
