Sad as veteran journalist, Ocholi losses wife, son within one month

This is not the best of times for an Abuja-based journalist, Mr Danusa Ocholi. He lost his first wife, Mrs Otini Violet Ekeyi, as well his most senior son, Victor Eleojo Ocholi, all within a month.
A statement by a member of the family, Mr Alexander Attayi Ocholi said the journalist’s first son died in “circumstances that are still not clear” at his place of work in Lagos.
Born in Makurdi, Benue state on June 25, 1990, he died on April 16, at 34. Victor’s mother on the other hand died on May 18 at the FMC, Jabi Abuja at 64.
A retired medical personnel with the Kogi State government, Mrs Ocholi had advanced diploma in Accident and Emergency from the University of Benin, Edo state. She is survived by her son, David Ojochegbe Ocholi; while Mrs Ejura Eunice Ikani and Mr Amanyi Ekeyi are the siblings. Mr Alexander Attayi Ocholi added that arrangements have been made for the burial of the – departed-very dear members of the family.
“In Otini Violet Ekeyi we had a mother and a caring and compassionate professional nurse. Victor was a scion of the family. We will miss them greatly. May God Almighty accept their souls in Jesus name,” the statement noted.
Meanwhile, the burial of Victor Ocholi will take place at Egume on Thursday May 29, while his mother’s own will hold on Friday May 30 at Idah.
