In a compelling address, the manager, Salama Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC), Mrs. Grace Yohanna Abbin, shed light on the pressing issue of Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) with a focus on men’s role as allies.
Heart-wrenching stories were shared, including a 60-year-old man defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old girl, and a father committing a similar heinous act against his own daughter.
Speaking on the theme: “Men as allies against SGBV: Be a protector not a perpetrator”, the manager passionately called upon both men and women to embrace a role as companions in the battle against SGBV, emphasizing the urgent need to stand together against such atrocities. The speech delved into various forms of gender violence; which includes Emotional, Psychological, Physical, Economic, Financial, Sexual, highlighting the collective responsibility to foster a society where protection prevails over perpetration.

This call to action aims to ignite a collective consciousness, urging communities to unite against SGBV and champion a culture where everyone actively works towards eradicating these deeply disturbing incidents.
