In an urgent letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the Progressive Youth Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed their deep frustration with the current Akwa Ibom State administration under Governor Umo Eno. The forum, representing over 12 million youths, accuses the governor of poor governance, economic mismanagement, and neglect of the people.

The letter was signed by Comrade Inyang Aaron, International President and Chief Sylvester Martins, Secretary.

The group laments Eno’s alleged austerity measures, which they say have left the state in “economic darkness.” They accuse the governor of halting economic activities by curbing local contracts and impoverishing key sectors, including the media.

His administration, they argue, has failed to deliver on promises, including job creation and infrastructural development, while leaving appointees unpaid and the populace struggling.

The letter highlights the growing insecurity, rising unemployment, and demolitions that have rendered many homeless, as well as the lack of a responsive “mumu button” – an intermediary to reach the governor.

The youths are now appealing to Akpabio to intervene and convene a stakeholders’ meeting to address the state’s challenges, warning that these issues cannot be allowed to extend beyond 2027.

Their plea: “Rescue Akwa Ibom from a terrible fate.”
