SDGs to upgrade Snakebite hospital Kaltungo to world-standard research, treatment, anti-snake venom production center

Victims of snakebite in Kaltungo in Gombe State and  environs will soon heave a sigh of relief as the Snake Bite Special Hospital, Kaltungo will soon be upgraded through intervention of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) office  in Collaboration with Gombe State Government into a World Class Research, Anti – Snake Venom production and treatment Centre.
The Development was evidenced by the visit of an assessment team  of the Abuja Head office of the SDGs led by Architect Idris Bawa to the Hospital in Company of the Director Hospital Service of the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Emmanuel James Mahdi.
The invitation according to Architect Idris Bawa followed the request by Gombe state Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Sustanable Development Goals (SDG’S) on the need for the upgrade of the Hospital. 
It is to reduce the suffering of  People of the area occasioned by the devastating impact of Snakebite which includes work hours, drain on the economy as well related health challenges associated with Snakebite.

Idris Bawa explained that having assessed the requirements needed for the upgrade of the Hospital which includes additional laboratories, Staff Quarters, Wards, Solar Power, Ambulances and critical equipment, work will begin as soon as approval is obtained.
Idris who promised the Mai Kaltungo the urgency of the project also advised the people to put an eye on the project when it’s commenced adding that as people they have a responsibility to protect as well as quality of public property.
Receiving the delegation in his Palace, the Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Saleh Mohammed expressed gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his tremendous effort to the development of the Chiefdom.
Engineer Saleh Mohammed recalled that barely two months ago the Governor upgrade and remodeling of Kaltungo General Hospital in addition to the reconstruction of Government Science Secondary School Kaltungo among many other developmental Projects.
The  SDGs Team was also at Jauro Tudun Wada Primary School in Gombe metropolis to assess the space with a view to upgrading it to Mega Primary School.
Speaking to Journalist after the inspection visit,the team leader Architect Bashir Bawa said some of the School structures will require total overhaul in addition to Construction of new ones to decongest the over populated Classes.
Senior Special Assistant to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on the Sustainable Development Goals, Alhaji Bashir Tukur said the intervention of the SDG’S in the areas of Health and Education through the request of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa is a demonstration of the Governor’s genuine concern for the overall development of the State.
He said the upgrade of Kaltungo Snakebite Hospital will certainly bring succour to the people as patient are being brought as far as eight States for treatment for Snakebite cases.
Alhaji Bashir Tukur also said giving the overgrowing population of Tudun Wada Primary School, their is need for its expansion in terms of structures which necessitated  the intervention of the SDGs as contained in a statement by Joshua Danmalam, Information officer SSG’S Office
