The Brotherhood Old Boys Association (BOBA), a community security outfit registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), has pledged to deepen its collaboration with security agencies by providing more intelligence and strengthening efforts to curb unruly behaviour, drug abuse, and other social vices among youths.
Speaking during the group’s silver jubilee celebration in Calabar, the Chairman of BOBA, Dr. Daniel Udoette, said the organization was formed over 25 years ago to promote orderliness within the Calabar community, particularly among members of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star worldwide.
Udoette, a senior security officer, noted that the group has consistently complemented the Nigeria Police Force in combating crime within Calabar and its environs.
“We have frequently supported the police in containing criminal activities. We also work closely with other security agencies to manage large crowds during mega religious events,” he said.
He added that with the silver jubilee milestone, the group is even more committed to providing timely intelligence and partnering with law enforcement to reduce criminal tendencies among youths and within the broader society.
Chairman of the anniversary planning committee, Bishop Nsikan Inyang, said the celebration also featured the induction of several new members.
He emphasized that BOBA remains anchored on discipline, service, peace, and the pursuit of a crime-free community.
Founder and grand patron of the association, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, commended the group for its contributions to community safety but urged members to carry out their duties with love and a sense of divine guidance.
He reminded them to operate within the laws of the land and maintain close cooperation with relevant state security agencies to promote peace and order.
Assuring the group of his continued support, the spiritual leader exhorted them: “In all you do to discharge your functions, let the divine spirit of God lead and guide you.”
