An alleged attempt to set fire on INEC Office in Lokoja has been foiled following security reinforcement measures put in place by security agents in within the INEC environment.

Apex News Exclusive correspondent who visited the State Capital observed that security measures has been reinforced around the State INEC Office apparently in response to an earlier alarm by SDP Director of Media Council, Mr Isaiah Davies Ijele.

Mr.Ijele had issued a press release demanding immediate relocation of all INEC sensitive materials from Lokoja to Abuja, explaining that there was an alleged plans by Governor Yahaya Bello to set fire on INEC Office in Lokoja where recent election result materials are kept.

In his words, “we demand that INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, should order for immediate relocation of all sensitive election result materials from Lokoja to Abuja for safe keeping. The safety of these election result materials are not guaranteed.

“SDP urges INEC and Federal Government to act swiftly and decisively in order to prevent any attempt to compromise or undermine their integrity”, he said.

Meanwhile the election tribunal is expected to resume sitting after its adjournment last Saturday when it approved four orders sought by SDP and it’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.
