The All Progressives Congress (APC) Bauchi State, in partnership with Sen. Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has hosted a town hall summit to collate stakeholder views on the ongoing amendment of the 1999 Constitution.
The one-day summit, held in Bauchi, was jointly organized by the APC Bauchi South Zonal Executive Committee and Senator Buba, who also chairs the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence.
The meeting served as a platform to foster inclusive dialogue and gather contributions from a wide range of stakeholders.
Participants included legal professionals, traditional leaders, civil society groups, youth and women organizations, political representatives, artisans, and union leaders.
The Stakeholders discussion focused on constitutional provisions requiring reform to better reflect the interests of the Nigerian people.
Alhaji Abdulmumini Kundak, Chairman of the APC Zonal Committee, said the forum aimed to generate well-informed input to guide the Constitution Review Committee and safeguard the interests of Bauchi South and Nigeria as a whole.
In preparation for the upcoming Zonal Public Hearing in Maiduguri, stakeholders agreed to form a special committee to collect, harmonize, and vet memoranda from various communities, expected to streamline submissions and promote unified representation.
Mr Ibrahim Umar was named chairman of the committee and assured stakeholders of prompt, transparent, and inclusive coordination of the submissions to ensure all voices are captured in the final document.
