The Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, chaired by Senator Simon Lalong, has screened Dr. Chukwuemeka Joseph Chukwu, nominee for Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) who last served in Enugu State.
During the screening, Senator Lalong reaffirmed the commitment of the 10th Senate to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral system in order to enhance public confidence.
He noted that the nominee had previously served a full four-year term without blemish, leading to his renomination based on satisfactory performance.
Committee members interacted with the nominee, asked relevant questions, and subsequently asked him to take a bow and go. The Committee thereafter proceeded with further deliberations behind closed doors.
Meanwhile, Senator Lalong has congratulated the Plateau State Ambassadorial nominees on their successful screening by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.
As a member of the Committee, Senator Lalong played a role in ensuring the consideration and approval of Chief Dr. Yakubu Gambo and Senator (Prof.) Nora Daduut who were recently nominated to represent Plateau State.
He expressed confidence that both nominees will serve Plateau State and Nigeria with dignity, excellence, and patriotism.
