Deputy Senate President, Omo-Agege heads constitutional review committee
The Senate has constituted a constitutional review committee with the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege as chairman.
The committee is composed of Senate’s Principal Officers, who will also serve as members of the steering committee.
Each state of the federation is represented by one senator, while each geo-political zone by two senators.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan said on Thursday that senators who are not members of the committee could still participate by way of giving submissions and advice they feel strong about for the committee to succeed.
He said the committee would engage not only members of the National Assembly and other statutory bodies like INEC and civil society groups but also Nigerians.
According to him, the committee is a platform where such issues should be brought and where those who are interested should ensure that they make every effort, including presentations, for their views to be considered.
